We all know how daunting the lead up to Valentine's Day can be so we thought that the best advice we could possibly give was to make sure you keep it sweet 'n simple. While a lot of us tend to turn up our noses in anti-commercial protest of this manufactured holiday, there are still a few romantics left out there who are left keep alive the spirit of the day. Here are just a few of our favourite things to do with a loved one whether it be for February 14th, or any other day of the year when you just want to say "I choo-choo-choose you" (haha had to drop that one in!)
Prepare a meal together
A favourite for many, spending some time in the kitchen is a great way to get some quality alone time together. Cook something different and have your favourite tunes in the background, get the vino flowing and just have fun! If you are culinary-challenged, you can still plan a romantic dinner at home for the two of you by either choosing simple recipes to follow or by purchasing some of the meal courses from a restaurant or store.
Take a bath
Probably a luxury we don't all partake in everyday but so awesome when we do! So simple.....dim the lights, turn on some music, light some candles.... If bubbles aren't your thing, maybe bath salts are and will definitely invigorate the olfactory senses for an enjoyable bath!
Take a drive
Pack the car up and head down or up the coast for a day trip! Get out of the city and enjoy the fresh air. We love driving down the coast to Bundeena, packing a picnic, hiring a couple of kayaks and spend the day basking in the sun in a secluded spot.
Pack a picnic
Don't want to venture out too far? For you Sydneysiders cycle to one of our favourite spots is Lavender Bay, watch the sun set over the harbour with a picnic or buy a couple of sweet treats-our favourite is the divine watermelon cake from Black Star Pastry.
Whatever you choose to do, Valentine's Day is the one day that we can get away with being overly cheesy and romantic and to make your better half feel all warm and gooey on the inside...
